Geo Dynamics in the year 2010 yet again pioneered the concept of evaluation of depths of existing foundations by demonstrating use of parallel seismic testing for the first time to the railways in 2009 for the Bilaspur division. We could successfully prove that depths of existing foundations of bridges could be evaluated using Parallel Seismic Method.
The testing is conducted by drilling a borehole adjacent to the foundation, lowering a hydrophone into the borehole and then taking readings at every pre-defined intervals. The impact is generated on the top of the foundation whose depth is to be ascertained. The method is accurate and versatile when top of foundation is not accessible and is also more accurate then a low strain integrity test. Some of the prestigious works carried out using parallel seismic technology include testing for Railways, Metro Rail Projects, and industrial works at Hazira and bridge foundations for various bodies.
Currently there is no code provisions for this method as it is an extension of the low strain test method and the equipment complies ASTM D5882.
